Client: The Violin Studio
Where: Brisbane, Australia
When: July 2017
Wandering into Olaf's shop is like walking into a magic closet. It's so small that a handful of people wouldn't fit inside but still it's filled with more violins, cellos and tools than an orchestra's practice hall.
Olaf explained that for him it used to be all about the instrument but that now his focus has shifted to helping passionate people pursue their dreams.
Nevertheless, you can see the excitement in Olaf's eyes when talking about the beauty of old instruments. Restoring old violins is something very close to Olaf's heart, he has restored countless beautiful instruments dating back to the mid 18th century.
It was a real pleasure spending a few hours in Olaf's workshop. Spending time with someone as passionate as Olaf is infections and it's exciting and encouraging to see that the art of violin making isn't gone quite yet. And of course, the chance to take some uniquely beautiful shots isn't something I was going to pass up.
